Title:Autumnal Seas

Description: This is one of my first explorations into painting on glass and I chose to attempt capturing the seas from our long distant (due to work primarily) October getaways in Pembrokshire. A coastal view was essential. It was enjoyable to create a view from memory, thank you Alan, and it may well be the first of many, as the effect of a living painting that interacts with the changing light levels is real joy.

Title:Another place

Description: Every year I usually go away for a week's walking with my friend Christine. Anywhere from the Yorkshire Dales to the Pembrokeshire coastal footpath. The wonder of walking through deserted countryside for hours then seeing the next signs of human habitation far in the distance. There's usually a small isolated church to be found somewhere along the way with fresh flowers inside and a bench out side where we can stop for a rest and a snack. That's what I've missed.

Title:Serenity is Yours

Description: This postcard represents a gathering from September 2020 in Cardiff. It was called Happy in my skin. This was where thirty women gathered together. Socially distanced of course. An artist called Hazel created this gathering. It's purpose was for body positivity, to empower and support each other as beautiful women. No matter what age, ethinicity, shape or size anyone was. We dropped our robes and ran into the sea together. This was the most liberated, free and at peace with just being myself that I think I have ever felt. This gave me a new sense of serenity. The glass works as a result were named Slices of Serenity. There were five of us in our group. This postcard represents everything about that day. The feelings we felt as we were on our own personal journey. As well as the five of us there. Standing strong together. It is a moment in time that I never want to forget.

Title:Svalbard Icy Mountain 2

Description: Measures 18cm high x 11.5cm wide x 10.5 cm deep.

Inspired by a 1000+ mile sailing yacht expedition from Tromsø to Svalbard and along the Western coast and fjords of Spitsbergen 500 miles from the North Pole I was struck by the polar wilderness and the sheer raw beauty and amazing colours. in the rocks, ice, snow and developing plant life as summer progressed.
Following a rough crossing 600 miles north from the mainland to Spitsbergen we sailed into Hornsund fjord.
This piece is my interpretation of a stunning and unique mountain in Hornsund unlike any other surrounding it.

Title:A Postcard from a Tropical Place

Description: My work focuses on colour to create uplifting colourful pieces. Each piece I make is made from strands of glass fused to a base layer of glass. The strands of glass are carefully selected so that the colours blend together to form drifts of colour.

Colours can be made up of lots of different colours. It is only when you stand back and see the piece from a distance do you see the full effect of the combinations of colours.

The colours for this lively piece were inspired by those found in tropical flowers and fruits, and lazy days in the sun. Maybe there is a macaw calling in the distance!

The surface of the glass has been sandblasted and fire polished when it was put back in the kiln for slumping to take on the shape of the mould. This helps to blend the colours that were used.

This piece is 150mm wide x 152mm deep and the corners curve up approximately 7mm

The edges and surfaces are smooth to touch.

Title:Window to another world: Rockpool 1.

Description: This is a unique fused glass piece set into a turned piece of ash wood based on holidays on the coast as a child messing around in rockpools. LED lighting (supplied by mains electric) allows the sculpture to become a focus in a room during the evening, then natural light filters through the coloured glass during the day.

Diamond sparkled water, rolling to and fro,
Pebbles turning gently in the tides ebb and flow,
Rock pools of life, shallow, own worlds within,
Anemones opening, sifting life’s silt,
Crabs scurrying gently, in their sideways gait,
Searching their world, snapping, small finger bait.
