“ The Landscape imagined though Clay, Plaster and Glass ” by Crispian Heath

"I produce cast glass sculpture from my studio in North Tyneside. My talk will cover my 32-year journey with glass starting with teaching myself the craft of stained glass whilst living in Boston USA to setting up a professional studio in Devon. From there I achieved a BA in Applied Arts (glass) at Plymouth College of Art where I explored the three-dimensional qualities of glass sculpture. Since relocating to the northeast and achieving an MA in Glass at Sunderland over ten years ago, I am busy supplying galleries and making work for exhibitions. I exhibit work widely and many pieces are in international collections.

My work is inspired by the landscape, particularly the dramatic rock formations of cliffs and how they are shaped by the forces of nature. By making drawings you see all the nooks and crannies; forms start to appear firing the imagination. Glass is a perfect material to express the sea, sky and land. I shall be showing photos and drawings of places that have been an inspiration.

I shall discuss and illustrate my preferred way of working with clay and plaster."
