THE CHAIRMAN AND COMMITTEE OF THE BRITISH SOCIETY OF MASTER GLASS PAINTERS INVITE THE C.G.S.MEMBERS TO TAKE PART IN THE ARTISTS GENERAL BENEVOLENT FUNDRAISING RAFFLE 2019
The A.G.B.I. is a registered charity (no. 212667) founded in 1814. It is the largest and oldest national benevolent fund for artists in the country. It is a very important charity that artists, including glass artists, contact when they need financial assistance unable to work through injury or illness or in old age. The B.S.M.G.P. raise money each as one of the official 14 arts associations related to this charity, highlighted in their Annual General Report. Last year Peter Layton’s Glacier Sailform prize for the Grand Draw hosted by the Glaziers Livery raised almost £1800 and we are very thankful to the CGS members who took part. This year there are amazing prizes relating to craftsmen in Glass. If you are interested in making an application for financial assistance, donating or require a gift aid form, please contact Jane, AGBI Steward.
Email Prize Form 2019 – please return this form immediately by email by Thursday 11th January and send your cheque to the A.G.B.I. Steward, Jane Campbell . If you are a lucky winner we will send your prize to you. Good Luck and Thank you!

In Spring 2017 one artist was diagnosed with a rare form of blood cancer. His studio practice and teaching were put on hold whilst he went a series of chemotherapy and radiotherapy.
Another artist has received support from the AGBI for several years. A sculptor now in her late 70’s she has needed help from the AGBI due to her diabetes which gradually took away her sight. She lives on her own with a guide dog but remains independent and has adapted her work.
One artist said “Your support has made a tremendous difference to my life, has reduced my stress greatly and helped improved my health and prospects. I am starting this year much happier and healthier than last year”
Last year 123 professional artists in need received financial assistance. The life of an artist can be precarious at the best of times, but when ill health renders an artist unable to work and earn, their circumstances can quickly deteriorate.
We will enter your tickets for you in the A.G.B.I. Raffle to be drawn by our Chairman at the New Year A.G.B.I. Fundraising Dinner and Lecture at The Art Workers Guild on the 13th January. If you are one of the lucky winners a committee member will then select your prize on your behalf, from your priority order form you have listed above.
At the last A.G.B.I. Raffle almost half the fantastic prizes were sent out to members and colleagues unable to come to the New Year Dinner - so it does happen!

So thank you, good luck and Happy New Year 2019
