This solo exhibition of Alison Kinnaird's art includes engraved glass ranging from small intimate pieces to larger architectural projects. She combines the ancient technique of wheel engraving with the cutting edge technology of LED lighting to introduce light and colour to the images. It will be an 'open studio' show, where visitors can also see Alison working on the glass.

Creative Scotland awarded Alison a grant this year, to create some large panels of engraved glass which focus on striking contemporary subjects, using a unique and innovative technique that she has recently developed. These panels will be on display for the first time during this show.

Shillinghill Studios, which is Alison's home and workplace, are in a converted church which dates from 1832, located in the historic village of Temple. It is also the base of Temple Records, founded by Alison's husband, musician and producer Robin Morton, which specialises in Scottish and Irish music. The conversion was completed 40 years ago by the couple, and the building has featured in The Times 'Innovative Interiors' book.

Temple Village was the headquarters of the Knights Templar in Scotland in the 14th century. As well as enjoying the exhibition in a spectacular building, visitors can discover the ancient ruined church opposite the studio in this historic setting.

Getting to Temple: the village is a picturesque 25 min drive, south by the A7. Turn right onto the B6372, when passing Gorebridge. Satnav - EH23 4SH.

The recently opened Borders Railway runs conveniently from Waverley Station in Edinburgh to Gorebridge, 2 miles from Temple. We can arrange some transport from Gorebridge station to the exhibition for individuals and small parties (up to 4) if required, but please call in advance to organise this (01875 830 328). It is also a pleasant walk if the weather is good.
