I was fortunate to have studied painting and sculpture at Goldsmiths'. My glass work is influenced by my printmaking and I can engrave into the glass which fulfils my love for drawing. I find the use of lettering a very satisfacory way to express my feelings.

I am finding a language in which I can express how I feel about the world around me.

Janine Altman was born in Uruguay. Studied painting, jewellery and fused glass as a child. In 2001 created her atelier to start an artistic journey. Works with fused glass, flameworking, pate de verre and “Openwork Glass”, a technique she developed, consists in small pieces of glass bound by metal threads. Her work has abstract and geometrical shapes that converge in a unique style, as eclectic as avant-garde. She has participated in multiple exhibitions and fairs, as Carrousel Du Louvre, Artexpo New York and Spectrum Miami, and has been selected for the 2017 Glass Auction & Gala of the
National Liberty Museum of Philadelphia.
Along with some painters, in 2017 created the Gallery ACCS Visual Arts in which is a permanent exhibitionist.

I am influenced by iconic contemporary art movements, drawing inspiration from the simplicity of Bauhaus Modernism to the complexity of nonrepresentational Abstract Expressionism. My interpretations are abstract, often using colour, linear intricate detailing and geometric or organic pattern to drive the narrative.

I am continuously experimenting with new techniques with the philosophy that I am on an ever-changing learning journey through the majestic medium of glass.

Following my completion of a BA Fine Art at Leeds Metropolitan University in 1999 as a mature student my desire to continue working with glass led me to Sunderland University where I completed my MA Glass in 2004.

Studied at Central School,London, late seventies.1987 moved to french countryside where I live with my wife and two children. Create 'art glass' for galleries, commissions private and public, run summer courses.'President' local action group for autistic children.
