Alex Archbold

I have been working in glass for over 20 years - initially traditional stained and leaded glass, but rapidly extending into a wide range of techniques, including fusing, slumping, kilncasting, sandblasting and printing on glass. Following two years at Central St Martins, studying glass in architecture and in fine art, I gained an MA at UCA Farnham. In 2010 my proposal for the Stevens Competition for Architectural Glass was awarded 2nd prize, as well as the George and Evelyn Gee prize for craftsmanship. I now create sculptural and decorative cast glass works from my home studio in Hampshire.

I create small sculptures and panels to commission and for exhibition. These are mainly based on natural forms and found objects, often incorporating metallic or organic materials. The liminal world of the seashore is a regular inspiration.
