The World’s Longest Glass-making Demonstration

A world record endurance competition. Glass artists Allister Malcolm and Elliot Walker go head to head to compete for the world record. The stopwatch will officially start from the moment a gather of molten glass is taken from the furnace. A test of endurance including a demonstration of the skills of glass blowing. Part of the Interational Festival of Glass www.ifg.org.uk.
Opening times: Museums open at 10am -5pm, the studios will be open to the public 24hrs a day whilst the challenge takes place.

Stourbridge Bead Fair

Glass artists selling their own lamp-worked beads, bead supplies and findings. Plus specially made ‘Games’ themed items; Olympic ring beads, miniature curling stone; marbles and much more.
Also Monday 27 August – Celebrate Glass – various glass disciplines being exhibited and sold by the makers.

Family Fun Day at Broadfield House Glass Museum

A fun filled day for the family. Traditional entertainment like donkey rides, sand pit play area, crafts and glass marble related sporting events, exhibitors from a range of sport and recreation, and special hot glass blowing demonstrations in our hot glass studio. Children can compete in the Glass pentathlon and win a medal. Hope to see you here on the day!

International Glass Symposium - Architecture and the Artistry of Glass

Exploring the relationship between glass and architectural forms whether in terms of building materials or the artist wedded to architecture. The symposium brings together artists and designers with distinguished international profiles: John Lewis; Danny Lane; Brent Richards; Tomasz Urbanowicz and Keith Cummings.
