Sandcasting with wire models - weekend course

7th & 8th October 2017

Do you fancy making your very own glass artworks? Why not come along for a course to learn how to make wire models, and set them within a sandcast glass block?

•7th & 8th October 2017. 1000-1600 each day

Location: Bovey Tracey, Devon, UK.

Course content:
We will begin by planning your individual designs; this will include making at least 2 wire models. We will then take your models into the hot glass studio, where I will introduce you to the sandcasting process. The pieces will all go into the lehr to anneal (cool at a controlled rate). I will return to the studio the following week to collect our creations, and grind the bases. I will then post them to you to arrive about a fortnight after the course dates.

There is a risk that not all pieces will survive the annealing process, however by casting two or three you should have at least one good’un, and if you’re lucky you may even get three (I work at about a 90% success rate, unfortunately this is one of the risks of working with glass)!

Cost: £350 per person. If booking for more than one participant then discounts available, please enquire. Price includes tasty lunches, homemade cake, refreshments, p&p of finished pieces.

How to book: Please email me (contact@jennyayrton.co.uk) with your name, address, any dietary/accessibility requirements, a few lines about yourself and any previous experience working with glass or wire. Once I have confirmed availability please make a deposit payment of £100 – I will send details for transfer.
