THE COLOUR OF INDIA
The Colour Of India exhibition of Glass by Bill Swann makes a final showing at the end of a two year tour of Wales at Oriel Plas Glyn Y Weddw Llanbedrog from November 29th to December 24th.
The Colour of India depicts impressions of travel through West Bengal, Uttah Pradesh and Rajasthan by Bill Swann of Porthmadog and presents glass wall hangings, sculpture, bronze, paint and textiles in this mixed media show.
Sketches, paintings and video further bring to life the vibrancy of India, the architecture, arts and crafts and the diverse personality of the people.
“Always inspiring and never dull India greets you and demands you take notice of this emerging economy. My glass pieces have developed in response to travelling in the Northern States of India and teaching at a weekend arts school in Kolkata run by Indian Glass artist Tandra Chanda. The current sculptural work incorporates my mouth blown glass with bronze, a new medium for me but with endless possibilities for the future” said Bill.
Plas Glyn Y Weddw is open from 10am-5pm daily and closed on Tuesdays in school term time.
This exhibition was supported by Arts Council Wales.
