Joia Glass is handmade by Joy and Peter Cole, influenced by our love of natural forms and vibrant colours. Inspiration can come from a walk in the woods or on the beach, a sunset or cloud structure, waves, or from a found object: a stone, leaf, flower, textiles, driftwood; anything really! We like to try different ways of working with glass - its property to flow then 'freeze' in a new form to get effects of fluidity and texture.
Wheel and drill engraver on glass, taught by Peter Dreiser at Morley College 1984-7. Happy to teach short workshops with the Guild of Glass Engravers and CGS etc. Member of Contemporary Applied Arts, Fellow of the Guild of Glass Engravers, elected member of The Art Workers Guild. Always interested in collaborative work with glass makers and to hear from glass blowers who are confident overlay artists working with lead crystal.
Based in Mid Wales, I create contemporary, functional, fused glass art for the home, garden and business. From bowls to wall and door panels, splash-backs, garden sculptures, furniture and lighting. My work is inspired by the countryside of Mid Wales, the bright colours of the Costa del Sol, and my travels.

I have worked as a cast glass artist for the last six years in the South West of England. I am particularly influenced by the light and movement expressed by marine flora and fauna. I aim to continue to make and exhibit my glass when I'm not working at sea.
