Anne Arlidge has developed a unique range of work since completing her BA at High Wycombe. All her pieces are made from recycled glass, which is blown, cut and polished, slumped and cast into both decorative and practical forms. The scope of her work encompasses:- cast panels to a current maximum of 18' x 17' with a depth of 6';- vases and spheres, blown, cut and polished;- ranges of tableware created from both soda and lead glass. She is pleased to welcome visitors to her workshop, Assenden Glass, and her work can also be seen at galleries and shops from Burford to St Ives.Anne enjoys working on commissions, both public and private. The largest being the design and production of a 5.5m sculpture based on the DNA spiral for the Royal Berkshire Hospital foyer.Anne draws inspiration from diverse sources. The affinity of glass and water holds endless possibilities, but it is the subtleties and illusions that emerge during the working process that are a constant source of surprise and delight. She also interested in the images produced by histological studies, in which the internal structures are revealed. By slicing and polishing her heavy walled vessels, the qualities of the glass are exposed.
