Lisa Sheppy works with fused glass and enamel printmaking a form which she developed whilst studying for her MA in Multi-Disciplinary Printmaking at UWE, Bristol. Ideas for the work are based on garments from historical contexts and their significance as representation of women, society and confinement.
After a career as a Graphic Designer a move to the USA prompted me to pursue a new creative direction. I studied the art and craft of Stained Glass in Connecticut and then on my return to London I began studying and working with both Kiln formed glass and Blown glass. In 2007 I set up my own professional practice. In 2010 I joined the team at London Glassblowing Studio and Gallery as Exhibition Co-ordinator and Curator.
I recycle float glass into bowls, plates, small sculptures and jewellery using enamels, paint, metallic & glass inserts. I enjoy experimenting and using other media together with glass.
I have worked for many years in performance and teaching and started working with glass seven years ago. I have been told that my work is quite theatrical in the way I combine vibrant colours within the space of each piece.
MA at The National Glass Centre, Sunderland, completed 2012.
BA(Hons) at Plymouth College of Art.
