I came to glass after a career in teaching.I chose to study at Edinburgh college of Art where I have continued to work in both Architectural and cast glass.

Jane O'Neill

Contemporary artist and enthusiastic cyclist based in the Pennines. Inspired by the local landscape of hills, mill towns and rainbows and the view of the world from my bike.

I have been working with kiln fired glass for about 5 years and enjoy making many different things. I have made foiled light catchers and leaded panels but prefer working with fused glass. I make table and home ware and some earrings and pendants but my real love is making landscape pictures in glass using powders and glass only. I use no paints at all as I think that is more true to the art.

Metal on Cast Glass

I found inspiration everywhere. Materials, textures, and colours influenced my glasswork. Metal and glass is my chosen medium and vocabulary. I paint or add metal onto my glass pieces to achieve a painterly colour and texture. It's material that gives substance to everything we see and touch. The exploration and experimentation of materials, techniques, and processes not only allow me to be creative but it does evoke my passion to make.
