Pilar Aldana-Mendez

Sculptor. Born in Bogota, Colombia. Lives and works in Barcelona, Spain, since 1985. Creates monumental site-specific and small format sculptures and installations using glass, stone, wood, light and sound effects. She had placed more than 30 monumental sculptures in outdoor museums in Europe, Africa and America. Exhibits often in Europe and her work is in museums and private collections. She is professor for sculpture, gives conferences, writes articles for specialized magazines and blogs, and has realized documental videos for sculpture techniques.

Sculpture is a life project. Sculpture is space, time, presence, form, design, concept and technique.
The soul of emptiness, African Homes, Refuges, Constructions to catch Time, Limits and some other series of sculptures had been the way to express my impressions of life, to express readings, travels, meeting with other cultures, my research and sometimes deep feelings.
