My first degree was in English and I spent some years teaching English abroad in Indonesia. After teaching in London Secondary Schools for 3 years, I retrained in Stained Glass and Mural Design at Chelsea School of Art in 1985-87. This was followed by 2 year MA by project in the Visual Islamic Art Department at the Royal College of Art between 1987-89. I have been a practicing stained glass artist since 1989. From 1990 I working part-time as a Lecturer in Architectural Glass, project management and Gender Studies at the University of Roehampton in the Art for Community Department. In 2001 I began a Fine Art PhD by project called, 'Re-Configuring the Rose' in the Galss and Ceramics Department of the University of Sunderland. I was awarded a PhD in 2008. I moved to Bristol in 2011. I am now a stained glass artist and free-lance lecturer

Details about work or recent projects

I work mostly in traditional stained glass to commission for churches and private homes. For more modern architectural spaces I use appliqué glass. My design work, whether narrative or abstract in nature, employs strong elements of sacred geometry which I studied in the Visual Islamic Art Department at the Royal College of Art. As well as private commissions, I am currently working on a web-based community project to make a digital rose window design that celebrates the women of the many ethnic communities of Bristol. This is called the Bristol Rose Project. It begins with an exhibition of work related to by PhD project called 'Kali in the Crypt' at St John-in-the-Wall, Bristol from March 8th to March 28th 2018.
