Silk Museum Button entry
Paul Mellor

Worked as a telephone engineer for 34 years in the Derbyshire Peak district which gave me inspiration for my glass work which I took up some 16 years ago. I mainly work now in stained glass both foiled and leaded. My pieces take a long time to make as I tend to work on small scale items using combinations of different processes. Glass has always given me a great deal of pleasure and makes me see and appreciate the beauty of our surroundings. Glass will always stretch you as a medium and make you think about all the possibilities for new designs.

Details about work or recent projects

My work includes my entry to the medallions exhibition which I was very pleased to sell. I also had a sucessful entry in the Macclesfield Silk Museum button project which also sold. I am now incorporating engraved and etched patinad copper into my glass work. I have had two new pieces of glass selected for the recent exhibitions " Wearable glass " and "Transparency " both using gold leaf within the designs. I have also had great fun preparing my postcard " Summer collection " for the IFoG " Wish you were here " exhibition.
