In her personal practice Joanne produces contemporary one-off sculptural pieces and three dimensional forms in glass that animate ideas through the inherent qualities of the material. Joanne is represented in numerous UK galleries. Her work was sold in Bonham’s ‘Auction of Modern and Contemporary Glass’ in 2009, and was recently acquired by the Shanghai Museum of Glass for their permanent art collection.
Joanne recently completed a part-time practice-based PhD in glass at Sunderland University. The research is an investigation into the control of air entrapment as form and text within glass, through the innovative use of digital technology and waterjet cutting, and kiln forming with float glass. Her sculptural glass explores air as a metaphor for thought, memory and the immaterial.
