In her personal practice Joanne produces contemporary one-off sculptural pieces and three dimensional forms in glass that intimate and animate ideas, through the inherent qualities of the material. Joanne is represented in numerous UK galleries, and her work was sold in Bonham’s ‘Auction of Modern and Contemporary Glass’ in 2009, and has been sold to collectors in North America and Europe.
Joanne is currently undertaking a part-time practice-based PhD in glass at Sunderland University. The research is an investigation into the control of air entrapment as form and script within glass, through the innovative use of waterjet cutting and kiln forming. Her sculptural glass explores air as a metaphor for thought, memory and the immaterial.
