CGS conference - Glass Skills: Exploring the Fusion of Art and Technique

Conference
Saturday, 12 October 2013 to Sunday, 13 October 2013

Another highly popular CGS conference, this time at the National Glass Centre in Sunderland.

In contemporary glass, art and technique come together to enchant and challenge us.  But is there tension between the two, or are they perfect partners? One thing is sure – the glass community is a vibrant place, where artists employing a huge variety of techniques use immense skill and creativity to shape their unique works.

Taking place in the newly refurbished National Glass Centre in Sunderland, this is a chance to explore all that the UK’s centre for national excellence in glass has to offer. There will be unique exhibitions, artist demonstrations and the opportunity to enjoy an area rich in culture, heritage and glassmaking history.

Speakers include Markku Salo, Keke Cribbs Dr. Jack Dawson, Wendy Fairclough, Geoff Mann, Diane Peacock and Luke Jerram.

Plus:

Seminars by Jessamy Kelly on approaching galleries and Cate Watkinson will lead a Q&A session with a panel of architectural glass artists Bridget Jones, Laura Johnston and Rachel Welford.
